UN Supervision Mission in Syria was supposed to end July 20th, yet it was extended for another 30 days. Since UNSMIS chief Lieutenant General Babacar Gaye came to Syria, he has visited areas of clashes and had several meetings with officials.
After visiting Homs and Al-Rastan and meeting with members of the foreign-backed militant group calling itself the Free Syrian Army, general Gaye stated in a press conference that there were damaged tanks left on the side of the streets; public infrastructure, such as bridges, were destroyed, the damage is great and both sides of the conflict should consider a political solution to stop it.
